ANNOUNCEMENT FOR STS-2018
  • On behalf of Director General, Indian Council of Medical Research applications are invited from interested MBBS students to participate in the Short Term Studentship Program (STS 2018).

  • The Indian Council of Medical Research initiated the Short Term Studentship Program in 1979 in order to promote interest and aptitude for research among medical undergraduates. The main objective of this program is to provide an opportunity to undergraduate medical students to familiarize themselves with research methodology and techniques by being associated for a short duration with their seniors on ongoing research program or by undertaking independent projects. It was expected that this may serve as an incentive for them to take up research as a career in the future.

  • During the last 38 years, MBBS students of various medical colleges in the country have shown keen interest in ICMR’s Short Term Research Studentship (STS) program. The ICMR has decided to continue this program by awarding limited number of studentships to deserving MBBS students from recognized medical colleges/institutions by Medical Council of India (MCI) during the vacations for the year 2018.

  • The student is required to register on ICMR website ONLINE starting from 11th December 2017 till 10th January 2018 and submit the application form and proposal online starting onwards from 11th January 2018 to latest by 25th January 2018 (Thursday by 3:00 PM) which will be evaluated by the ICMR.

  • Results will be announced in May 2018 and list of selected students will be displayed on the website. If selected, the student is expected to complete the project in given any two months between May and September 2018 and submit the report before the last date of submission i.e. 15th October, 2018 (Monday). The student will be awarded stipend and certificate only if his/ her report is approved. The Institution must provide the student with all facilities for carrying out research.

  • The value of the studentship will be Rs. 5,000/- per month for 2 months’ duration (Rs. 10,000/- only) and is meant to be a stipend for the student, which is paid through RTGS and will be transferred to the STUDENT’S OWN SINGLE HOLDER BANK ACCOUNT.
